| JETRO, or the Japan External Trade Organization, is a government-related organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world. Originally established in 1958 to promote Japanese exports abroad, JETRO's core focus in the 21st century has shifted toward promoting foreign direct investment into Japan and helping small to medium size Japanese firms maximize their global export potential. ジェトロは、「世界の最前線で、日本を強くする。」ための貿易投資促進機関です。
日本と世界の架け橋として、日本の企業やモノ・サービスの海外展開支援、外国企業の日本進出・対日投資の促進を行っています。また、企業活動や政府の政策立案に資する調査・研究を実施するほか、海外においては日本企業の代表として、海外政府へのロビーイングなども行います。
